OUR RESEARCH We work on varied topics that cut across the fields of ecology, evolution and conservation biology. While we are interested in general questions of broad relevance to a variety of taxa, we focus primarily on fish and shellfish and conduct research in freshwater, estuarine and marine ecosystems. To get answers to interesting biological questions and/or applied problems, we employ a range of approaches including field-based experiments, long-term monitoring of index sites and sampling via commerical and recreational fisheries. An array of modern molecular genetic and statistical computing tools are used to conduct parentage analysis and quantitative genetic studies, to perform genetic stock identification (GSI), to undertake landscape/seascape genetics studies at different scales and to infer phylogeographic histories.
